Connie Light is a dynamic public speaker and educator. In her twenty-four years
in healthcare management, Connie has presented to over 400 hundred audiences.
Connie has over 17 years experience with a major health insurance plan as it
grew from its first public offering in one market, to now providing health
benefits to over 6.5 million lives nationwide. She has a strong combination
of clinical nursing and health care business practice, with an emphasis on developing
clinical practice and decision-making algorithms.
Most notable was Connie’s work on the development of evidence based medical practice
paradigms and algorithms that were used in the care of 6.5million health plan members.
These determinations resulted in cost savings in excess of five million dollars
annually by providing peer review information that supported the most statistically
effective treatment plans.
Connie is also regularly called upon to provide independent review of medical cases
involved in litigation and she provides legal counsel with interpretations such as
medical background, standards of care, estimates of probable outcomes, and legitimacy
of pending litigation.
Before Connie began her tenure in the private insurance sector, she managed the Employee
Health Service of a public, teaching, indigent care hospital. She designed and implemented
a comprehensive program of employee health services for the hospital and was responsible
for the health and safety of 1,400 hospital employees, including provision of on-site
diagnostic, clinical, preventive care including personal and family support services.
Connie has an unmatched knowledge of the medical literature, National and State Mandates
and medical policy formation. She has completed all the course work necessary for a Ph.D.
in Policy Formation and is currently working on her dissertation.
